I went to the session on personal essays and also noticed a little bit of diversity but not quite as much as you. I did notice that the people there were trying to take everyday experiences and filter them into creative work, just like any other artist, mormon or not. It was nice to see that.Natalie Cheriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10251408793266482686noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3193051508933511187.post-38086700595779712792015-03-31T08:12:08.181-06:002015-03-31T08:12:08.181-06:00I love this post! I think this sums up perfectly the struggles of categorizing "Mormon literature" because it really is impossible to fit everything that diverse Mormons do into one category. Just thinking about all the different genres we have read in class makes me realize how impossible it is to generalize.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02902927465722295043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3193051508933511187.post-60306932302612568232015-03-29T16:41:56.802-06:002015-03-29T16:41:56.802-06:00Your thoughts made me wish I could have attended. ...Your thoughts made me wish I could have attended. I think you're right. My wife and I are constantly criticizing "Utah mormons," but I think we need to step back and realize how diverse we really are when we don't let those stereotypes cloud what we see. Also, Chris Crowe is awesome. I like how you commented on the diversity and complexity of a people who are often stereotyped as one dimensional. We have a lot to say and we should continue to say them!Paige Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11247954231648357794noreply@blogger.com
